Targeted Language
Download the customizable list of vocabulary to targeted comprehensible input. Use your favorite comprehensible input techniques to make sure students hear each word at least 20-30 times. It will seem excessive, but learners need to hear the word many times to bind the meaning to the sound.
A. Introduce Café Foods
Ask students to cut out the café food vocabulary before class. (See attached) Present the café foods in French using the pdf or powerpoint. When you say a food item, students signal by holding up the correct vocabulary card. This way you can quickly assess their comprehension. To increase the difficulty, ask the students to show two items. You may also ask for either a croissant or an ice cream. You may wish to give participation points for signaling. Periodically check individual comprehension by asking a single student to show a food. Students can practice with the interactive online activity.
